Not Always!
With the emergence of discount airlines across Europe, it is often less expensive to purchase an airline ticket than to travel by train. However, what train travel affords you is:
• the convenience of boarding your train at one of the main stations in the city rather than having to go to an airport.
• the ability to arrive for your train 15 minutes before departure.
• departure punctuality (except April 19's 10 hour-delay of the Eurostar!).
• views of the countryside.
• depending on which train, the ability to reach your destination at very high speeds which is a novelty on its own.
• convenience at your destination, as you will likely arrive somewhat central to the city center.
On your next trip, consider where you are going, how far it is from Paris and make your decision accordingly. Either way, you won't be disappointed!
