The Paris Marathon Start Line

Every spring the Paris Marathon brings close to 30,000 determined individuals to the City of Light to run 26.2 miles through the charming streets and right by - yes, even the Eiffel Tower.

The start line is at the Champs-Elysées, and after the last person crosses it, this is what remains:  A sea of tossed clothes, water bottles and plastic bags that runners have used to stay warm.  A rare sight for this popular tourist locale!

The course loops from west to east and back and takes runners along some of the most picturesque neighborhoods, including two major parks at both ends of the city.  If you're thinking of one day running it, remember to include extra days for sightseeing.
