The long awaited Sex and the City movie was a hit and the special edition DVD
is available. And its sequel has already been released!
The popular HBO series ran for 6 seasons, with the 2-part finale partly filmed in Paris. For those who didn't watch the season finale - here is a quick recap, along with details of where Carrie Bradshaw's (Sarah Jessica Parker) adventures took her in the City of Light.
Recap of "An American Girl in Paris"
Once in Paris, the finale provides a beautiful introduction to the city, its architecture and picturesque vistas. Carrie explores Parisian streets and sites while her Russian boyfriend Aleksandr Petrovsky (Mikhail Baryshnikov) works on his art installation. Fast forward through some very amusing, stereotypical Parisian scenes, Carrie's ex-boyfriend, Big, travels there in search of her, finds her and they end up together, happily ever after.
Luckily for show producers, they chose the right ending for follow-up movies!
Here are some scene highlights and locations you might want to check out on your next trip:
1. Hôtel Plaza Athénée Paris
Carrie arrives in Paris to find Aleksandr at this prestigious hotel on Avenue Montaigne. Right off the Champs-Elysées and just across from the river from the Eiffel Tower, one of the most recognizable shots is Carrie enjoying the view from the hotel balcony. The hotel has taken advantage of the exposure, with even its very own Sex and the City hotel package.
Location: 25 Avenue Montaigne, 8th arrondissement, Metro Alma-Marceau, Line 9
2. Le Kong
Carrie meets Aleksandr's ex-wife Juliet for lunch at Le Kong, a restaurant on the top floor of an old building of the department store La Samaritaine. They dine and awkwardly chat in the domed glass ceiling room overlooking the river and Parisian rooftops. Refresh your memory of the modern interior decor and check out Kong's menu.

3. Dior
Dior is the designer clothing store where Carrie slips on the floor, falls flat on her face and then shops with reckless abandon to save face. It is also where she unfortunately loses her Carrie necklace.
Location: 30, Avenue Montaigne, 8th arrondissement, Metro Alma-Marceau, Line 9
4. Pont des Arts
The final scene with Carrie and Big is at night on the Pont des Arts, one of the most well-known pedestrian bridges in the city. Originally a 9-arch metallic bridge built in the early 1800s, the bridge was reconstructed to a modern form with only 7 arches in 1981-84. During summer months, it is normally found full of people as a common meeting and gathering place.
Location: 1st arrondissement, bridge between the Louvre and the Institut de France.

The finale ends back in New York, where the movie picks up. Overall, the show did a superb job of bringing Paris to the small screen with humor, charm and a little bit of fairy tale.
