Beaches in Paris Every Summer - Paris Plage

Paris let its hair down every July to August with its own version of Californian beaches called Paris Plage.  Large, potted palm trees, truckloads of sand, beach chairs and umbrellas are transported to the city's Right Bank, and in an all-night major set-up, carefully arranged along the Seine.  Throw in street entertainment, games for kids and food, and it's a fun event for all.

Already a pedestrian city, locals and tourists alike enjoy the traffic-free George Pompidou Expressway, normally a 2-lane commuter road along the river.  With the event held near the peak of summer, music concerts are also planned to bring the public outdoors and together.

What's more, the plaza in front of the City Hall has sand castle building and volleyball matches.

For a city that prides itself on tradition, this is an innovative event that should not be missed if you're in town!

Locations:

- Hôtel de Ville, Paris City Hall, 1st arrondissement, Metro Hôtel de Ville, Line 1
- 2 miles along the Seine one the Georges Pompidou Expressway, Right Bank, 4th arrondissement
